A weekend reunion...

Corey Lake. It was the place we went every summer- at least twice a summer- along with 2 other families (and usually more). It was exactly what you picture when you think of summer lake trips: Old cottages. Fishing. Paddle boating. Skiing. Bonfires. Lots of laughter. And not a worry in the world. It was an amazing set of friendships and we made our own rulebook. It was the kind where 11-yr-olds have suprpise birthday parties at the local pub... and campfire songs glorified alcohol and were littered with profanity. And despite the stark contrast from the rest our lives- it was never, ever, anything less than innocent. Or maybe it was just us who were completely innocent.

Either way, the owners of the cabin's stopped renting and life happened and over time and distance, we all lost touch. We still saw one another at weddings or funerals or other such special occasions from time to time- but we never got the whole group together for the simple purpose of reconnecting with eachother. And last night, well- we did. And it was fabulous.

The next generation of kiddo's had never even met one another- but you'd never have known it. They all got along beautifully together from the word go... not so different from us, when we were little. (Though we're definately a little more, eh-hem, "protective" of the little one's now) :)

After an awesome evening of reminescing (and a rediculous game called "Ship.Captian.Crew") we parted ways... but only after scheduling a weekend to go Pontooning on Corey Lake. Come on, August!!
